About Capital Waters
Capital waters was founded as platform in 2013 by Sjoerd Mol & Don Ginsel. The independence was fortified by the launch of Foundation Capital Waters in 2017. The mission remains to make doing early-stage investment deals easier in the Netherlands. This is accomplished by providing free information and legal investment document templates, for all stakeholders.
Since 2023 Capital Waters has strengthened the ties with the ecosystem by introducing the Capital Water Partnership, for industry bodies, venture capital firms, and law firms.
In 2026, Marnix Geraerts has taken over the board position of Sjoerd Mol.
We want to educate entrepreneurs and investors on landing investment deals, and to make it easier to establish these deals in legal terms.
Our Experts
In order to ensure our model documents meet the highest standards and contain a market practice and well balanced set of conditions, we have installed an Expert Panel comprised of likeminded persons from the VC industry. The Expert Panel consists of a diverse group of people with investment, entrepreneurship and legal advisory background and is hence able to provide invaluable input from a variety of angles on the Capital Waters documentation. It must be noted that even though the members of the Expert Panel support the Capital Waters initiative, they might use a different set of documents for any investments they are involved with, for numerous reasons.
